Traktor Story & Konobon Gallery

Nova Vas-Villanova

The area known since ancient times as a meeting point of communication routes and paths, situated near the natural landmark of Baredine Cave, showcases an ethno story dedicated to agriculture.

The display of various tools and machinery as well as numerous preserved photographs and documents, tells the story of the area and its people. First and foremost, the exhibition presents the evolution of the threshing process, right before and after the mechanisation of farming. The story begins on the threshing floor, one of the earliest forms of threshing, continuing with the presentation of simple to more complex threshing machines, combine harvesters and tractors that significantly facilitated the arduous working process.

Around fifty old timer tractors and machines are exhibited in the condition in which they were last used. Without modifications to their original state, each individual tractor, starting with a 1923 Fordson, the first one to arrive to a nearby village, has a story to tell about the area. The exhibition is entitled Traktor Story in their honour.

The exclusive space of the Konobon Gallery, blending into the white Istrian stone, showcases the story of the Mediterranean trilogy - bread, olive oil and wine, present in this area from Antiquity, throughout the Middle Ages, till the present day. The central part of the gallery features art and thematic exhibitions.

Tractor Story ends with a visit to the Wine Shop where guests have a chance to taste indigenous olive oil and wine varieties as well as other local products.
