Aquarium Pula - Ambassadors of the sea
Pula-Pola
Located in the southernmost part of Pula, within the picturesque holiday resort of the Verudela Peninsula, you will find Aquarium Pula. Its extensive displays are divided into two adjacent, Austro-hungarian forts, each over 135 years old, forming a complex of protected cultural assets surrounded by a scenic promenade in a pine forest. The fort Verudela, covering 2,500 m², features a Mediterranean display with more than 250 species from the Adriatic and Mediterranean seas.
Nearby, the San Giovanni Battery showcases over 100 species from tropical marine environments, freshwater, terrestrial ecosystems, and northern seas, spanning a 1,000 m² area. Additionally, the battery hosts the Gallerion, a notable collection of the Imperial and Royal Navy of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy.
By purchasing a ticket for the aquarium every visitor contributes to the revitalization of cultural heritage and the protection of the Adriatic's biodiversity. s Additionally, it supports our conservation activities, such as the rehabilitation of sea turtles and the protection of valuable pen shells at risk of extinction, promoting our commitment to environmental sustainability. The aquarium is only 3 km from the city center, and it can be easily reached by public transport (lines 2A and 3A), which is recommended due to the limited number of parking spaces. it is open through-out the year.
